A New Partnership in South Africa to Bring Best Hygiene Standards to Hospitality and Food Service Industries

New distribution agreement signed between Ecolab and Bidfood in South Africa to enable broader local market access to Ecolab food safety and infection prevention portfolio.

July 17, 2020

The Institutional South Africa division of Ecolab, the global leader in water, food safety and infection prevention technologies and services, has concluded a strategic distribution agreement with Bidfood, a leading food service distributor and supply partner to thousands of customers across Southern Africa. This agreement enables Bidfood, currently a level three broad-based black economic empowering supplier, to distribute a range of Ecolab’s award-winning food safety and infection prevention hygiene products, in addition to their current wide range of frozen, chilled and allied food products, including non-food items and equipment currently available on their e-commerce platform MyBidfood.

Bidfood’s extensive logistics network and reach makes them an ideal distribution partner for Ecolab in South Africa, and this agreement enables improved value added delivery for Ecolab customers (who are typically dealing with multiple suppliers) to procure a full range of food safety and infection prevention products and related food service items from a single source, thereby saving (especially for small business owners) on vital time managing administration, receipts and payments for multiple suppliers. Our collective goal is to enhance the market’s reputation for hygiene management and deliver more value for our mutual customers.

Ecolab food service and hospitality customers can expect to receive the same level of world-class service and industry leading technologies, programs and services through their Ecolab representative, with Bidfood fulfilling the logistical operational needs of Ecolab customers covering: receiving orders for Ecolab Institutional-related products on the MyBidfood platform, as well as issuing Bidfood invoices and effecting deliveries to customers on behalf of Ecolab. The main point of business contact for service and expertise remains your Ecolab representative or account manager and we anticipate a transition period of no longer than three months to effect these amendments.

Global public health crises, including the current coronavirus disease pandemic, is a reminder to re-examine hygiene protocols and ensure teams are trained and prepared to keep the public safe. It is important to ensure your staff understand how diseases can spread in your business to ensure public safety. If you would like assistance from our experts in reviewing your protocols or to provide training to your team, please reach out.

We believe this new development will bolster our ongoing opportunities of making positive impact in your operations. Should you require more information, please reach out to your Ecolab representative or account manager.
